    My boyfriend and I are visiting Houston from Buffalo, NY and stopped to grab takeout from The Cajun Stop.  We are beyond happy we did!  My boyfriend ordered the Signature Sandwich and I had the Fried Shrimp Po Boy...I would post pictures, but we devoured them too quickly (a good sign).

    Both of our sandwiches were phenomenal.  The "regular" size was too big for us to even finish in one sitting, and the price was hard to beat.  The seafood and the bread were both fresh, and the homemade sauces/gravy were fantastic.

    The staff at The Cajun Stop was extremely friendly and welcoming, even going out of their way to recommend different areas to us as continue our apartment search in the Houston area.  Would definitely recommend giving this place a shot!

    Food is great, todays service was very slow.
    One cook and one cashier/waitress.  Been here many times and would normally give 4 stars.  However, too long a wait at lunch.  Had to get our orders to go.

    So here's an update from above.  Tried again a few weeks later.  Place had no one inside at 12:15.
    Menus were replaced with TV screen menus and many things missing.  Just fried foods.  Plus, food was served in to go containers.  Was told new owner really didn't want people eating on side. We told the original owner had sold out and new owner was making changes.
    Gumbo didn't taste right and was 90% sauce, little meat or rice.

    Sad to see this good place change.  Why is it new Mgmt always thinks they know better.

    The surf and turf used to be my favorite po'boy sandwich to get from this place . I'm a person that loves supporting local entrepreneurs that have roots in New Orleans and Louisiana.

    Growing up foods such a gumbo and po'boys , I wanted to feel like I was back in the Boot aka Louisiana.

    First the roast beef was super dry and didn't seemed cooked all the way. The shrimp batter was soft and I really don't feel like it was cooked all the way. Like after all of that , the shrimp wasn't even seasoned lol.

    So I basically ate half just because I don't like wasting $$$ and gave the rest to a homeless person . I'm just so sad that this place has come down to this .

    What I like:
    // neighborhood eats
    // Casual vibes
    // spacious parking lot

    Now that I've started on a positive note, here's some CONSTRUCTIVE feedback:

    // it's totally okay to be pleasant to customers. If it's my first time, I may not know the flow of ordering. Help me out vs. staring at me like an idiot. Came back a second time and the cashier literally stared at her phone a good 30 seconds before looking up to acknowledge me.

    // if I order 4 lbs of crawfish, perhaps more than 2 cobs of corn and half a sausage would suffice... perhaps. On top of that, this crawfish was so dry I needed a side of butter to make it somewhat enjoyable.

    // the "regular" po boy is a foot long. Wish I would've known this before I ordered it for take out. Small is normal size.

    Overall, Cajun Shop is average at best. I'd be a bit more forgiving if the service was at least good, but I don't see any reason to come here again.

    This has always been one of my go-to restaurants growing up in Houston. It is a good place to take your friends and family plus their is plenty of parking space. The service was never anything special, but the food is always good. I usually get their shrimp po boy and it has never disappointed me. The main issue I have with this place is that they scored a 1/100 on their health score. I don't know about you, but that is very alarming. I won't be returning until they get an updated score.
